Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Fun Fact Friday, so I thought I’d share one for this week. Check out the five fun facts about Dressed for Success, a May/December, interracial, contemporary romance.

I always wanted to do a May/December romance, so I came up with a short story. Here are five fun facts:

  • I love the city of Thunder Bay. Just love it. So naturally, I had to set my story in this wonderful city in Northwestern Ontario.
  • Since I’ve been to Sault Saint Marie on a few biz trips, it seemed perfectly right to send the heroine, Bebe Boshey, and her sexy boss Alden Campbell, to The Soo. It’s a lovely city in what we northwesterners think of as northcentral Ontario.
  • Since I’m a die-hard fan of the Love It or List It franchise, Home Town, and Property Brothers, real estate fascinates me (yes, I got searchign for houses local to see what’s on the market, and even places like Las Vegas LOL). I always wanted to write a novel set in this industry. What better way to get my feet wet than a short story with a silver fox and his employee?
  • The Silver Fox trope is one I have yet to write. Cooking up Alden Campbell was tons of fun. He’s such a wonderful man coming from Gen X, while BeBe is part of the Millennials. Writing the gap was a hoot because I’m a Gen X’er.
  • The original cover never made it. I didn’t care much for the heroine. So I asked very nicely if my publisher could use a different woman, and the wonderful Martine Jardin is always kind enough to listen. The cover you see is the second version.
  • Okay, here is a bonus for you: The title comes from the Roxette song Dressed for Success. I added that to my workout playlist to keep me inspired.
