Why I chose to write medical romance:
Medical romance! Very relevant right now! There is a huge community of unsung heroes – doctors, researchers, nurses, who add so much to our society and they have intensely challenging lives too!
They also have romances and are totally human like the rest of us but they do in a certain way put their own challenges, agendas behind other people’s and I think that is super heroic. There are so many powerful alpha women and men in the medical world with intimate desires, fantasies and needs! I love to create the entangled plot and real thoughts and characters who are intertwined in their worlds with steamy passion happily ever afters as they also glide through their careers and personal journeys.
I also come from a family of medical professionals. My father was a surgeon, as is one of my sisters and another is a GP and one of my closest girlfriends. I’m so familiar and resonate deeply with the personalities and lives of this world!

“Carter told me he loved me?”
“Get out!” Mary’s voice rose about an octave. Her excitement was evident even through the phone. Amanda could picture her sitting in her office chair, barely containing her joy. “And then what?”
“Well…”
“Oh girl, what did you do?” Mary’s early excitement was suddenly a low concerned murmur.
“That’s the thing. I didn’t do anything. I sort of… pretended to be asleep?”
Mary groaned. It was a groan that somehow managed to convey both disappointment and serious disapproval. “Amanda, how could you leave that poor, sweet boy hanging like that?” She sighed and once again Amanda could perfectly picture Mary. She was pinching her nose in complete frustration. “What about this morning?”
“He didn’t mention anything about it but I mean, we both had crazy mornings.”
Mary tsked. “I have to say, Amanda. I never thought avoidance was really your style.”
Amanda rested her head in her hands and let out a deep sigh. It felt good. Like she had been holding her breath for hours. “I didn’t think I was either.”
“So… the obvious question is do you feel the same way?”
Amanda thought about it, as she had been thinking about it all day. “I don’t know. I really don’t.”
“Well, you need to figure that out. Cut that poor guy loose if you’re not feeling the magic.”
I know.
“I’ll figure it out,” Amanda said matter-of-factly. After all, she would. She never left a problem unsolved. She just wasn’t sure what all the factors were yet. Like her own feelings. Those little buggers could be tricky. “After the conference.”
“So, you’re just going to leave him twisting in the wind while you go visit the City on the Hill? That’s cold, Amanda.” Mary wasn’t even pretending to hide her dismay at Amanda’s behavior. It was clear with every word she said that dripped with disappointment. Amanda hated to hear it.
“Look, I just need to be really sure about how I feel. I don’t throw those words around, you know. It’s a serious thing.”
“Mhm.” There was that disapproval again. How Mary fit so much of it into just two syllables was beyond Amanda.
“Anyway, I have to go. I have an appointment in five and I haven’t even looked over this patient record yet.”
