Nick has always wanted Amelia Fuller, his best friend’s little sister, but is he capable of overcoming a past that threatens to come between them?
Blurb: Amelia Fuller has been in love with her older brother’s best friend for the better part of two decades. After working up the courage to finally tell him how she feels, he broke her heart. Now, three years later, she’s home for the Christmas holidays and finds Nick’s feelings toward her suddenly changed.
Nick doesn’t like to make the same mistake twice. When Amelia arrives home after a three-year absence, Nick Kelly decides he’s no longer going to hide the way he feels about her. His friendship with her brother and a past that left him feeling ashamed were the only things holding him back, but missing her for three long years has finally put things in perspective for Nick.
After Nick catches Amelia enjoying a little fetish pornography, he convinces her to agree to a hot fling, but much to Nick’s displeasure, she wants to keep their affair secret. Sneaking around and indulging in risky sexual play while staying at her parent’s home for the holidays won’t get Amelia everything she’s always dreamed of. Terrified to expose her heart once more, Amelia struggles to discover whether they can overcome their past.
****
I wanted to read a book with some BDSM, and the author supplied me with a free copy for a review. I was all for the exchange, and wasn’t disappointed.
Amelia is home for the holidays. She’s looking for some “private” time when she’s caught by the hero Nick, who does want to oblige her fantasy of master and sub, a fantasy that caused the heroine to end her relationship with a boyfriend who was shocked and disgusted by her fantasies.
There is a problem. As attracted to Nick as Amelia is, he humiliated her in the past since she’s always been in love with him. She has no idea Nick didn’t mean to humiliate her, but he backed off because he is the best friend of Amelia’s brother.
I will admit the brother’s stance and attitude annoyed me. If my brother dared to interfere in my life, I’d let him have it. This is the twenty-first century, not the 1950s LOL. And even in the 1950s women didn’t need their big brothers going all protective on them.
Anyhoo, Amelia can’t resist Nick’s offer. She knows she’s probably setting herself up for more heartache, but she takes the chance. I like how she took a chance. It says a lot about her. That she’s capable of breaking free from her over-protective family, just as long as her family doesn’t know what she’s up to, that is.
The two waste no time exploring their fantasies. I loved how the author walked them into this. BDSM takes a lot of trust, and the duo were perfect for this exploration because they’ve known each other their whole lives. The sex scenes tease the reader as much as Nick teases Amelia, where the reader is slowly led up to the big moment. Well done, author. I really enjoyed how it wasn’t straight into the sack, but more of a strip tease to get the duo to the point of no return.
This also allowed for character growth. I loved Amelia’s arc, because during her sexual exploration, she begins to unearth what she wants and what she needs. The same for Nick. He’s always wanted Amelia, but he begins to also learn to not let others stand in the way of what he wants.
During this novel, the author weaves in just the right amount of Christmas magic that fits with the plot. The writing is strong. The sex is hot. And the dialogue is true to character. The only quibble I had was the additional POVs that weren’t necessary.
I recommend My Mistletoe Master. If you enjoy a steamy Christmas with family and even fun, give this book a read. Do yourself a favour and get a copy.
Have you read My Mistletoe Master? If so, do you agree with my review? If you haven’t read the book, would you be willing to now?
