Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

Welcome to my eighteenth post for Muse Monday. It’s a chance for a character who inspires me to guest on the blog. Today, we have Bebe Boshey, the career-driven, powerhouse heroine from my short story Dressed for Success. Check out what Bebe has to say.

I simply wanted a quiet life, far from my home reserve that I left.  Far from my ex-husband, who pretty much destroyed my career at my former workplace.  The worst decision I ever made was to date a co-worker and then marry him.

I have a new life in Thunder Bay.  I’m embarking on a new career in real estate.  My boss says I’m good at it.  I enjoy everything about being a real estate agent.  Conducting marketing evaluations, coordinating professional marketing, negotiating offers (the best!), and managing and showing open houses.  And that’s just for property sellers.

There is something satisfying in securing a closing.  Very satisfying.  More satisfying than chocolate or sex.  Okay, let’s erase sex.  With the right partner, sex can be great.  But that’s off my list, even when my older sister keeps prodding me to get out there and enjoy an off-the-strings affair.  She thinks I’ve been out of the game for too long.

There is someone whom I’d love to know better, but he’s off my list:  my sexy silver fox boss.  Yes, Alden Campbell can curl my straight hair.  However, after my disastrous first marriage, mixing business with pleasure is a huge no.

Then he invites me on a business trip to Sault Saint Marie.  I’m in big trouble…

****

Two wounded-in-love go-getters must decide if they’ll break their personal rule that cost them so much in the past by mixing business with pleasure.

Divorcée Bebe Boshey flees her Ojibway community for the city of Thunder Bay to begin anew, landing a great job that affords her an independent lifestyle she covets and a great condo. Best of all, her silver fox boss thinks the world of her. She can’t help her attraction to him, but office dating is a huge no-no.

Divorcé Alden Campbell is tired of spending his nights alone. And he’s also quite uncomfortable about his feelings for his ace real estate agent, Bebe. Even though they are strictly professional in their daily dealings, the sizzling chemistry ready to boil over between them is enough to shake him with fear, because he’s been there and done that.

While they’re on a business trip together, a crafty playboy pushes Alden into making a big decision that might cost him dearly—pursue Bebe and break his rule of business-only, or let Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome work his charm on the one woman Alden wants to call his own.
