Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

Welcome to my seventeenth post for Muse Monday. It’s a chance for a character who inspires me to guest on the blog. Today, we have Celeste Fisher in the interview chair, the beautiful and ambitious news reporter from Her Competition. Check out what Celeste has to say.

1.  First off, tell us who you are and what role you play in the novel.

Celeste: Hello. It’s great to be here. I’m Celeste Fisher, a reporter for the Indigenous Peoples TV Channel. I work in the news department. I’m up for a promotion, which I think will be mine, but the man in the cubicle beside me thinks he has it all wrapped up.

2.  Share with us your hobbies and interests, and why you enjoy them.

Celeste: My job keeps me very busy, but I do try to make time for myself, which isn’t easy. I have a big passion for golf, both playing and watching. So sneaking in nine or eighteen holes is imperative to keep my sanity since the job can be very stressful. We’re constantly on tight deadlines. Music is another passion. At first, I stuck with music from my generation, but after meeting a powerhouse older woman, she introduced me to the world of her music, which I love. Attending concerts is a must for me since Winnipeg has many venues. I also make sure to take time to vacation, which means a cruise or a golfing vacation.

3.  Tell us how you feel about being in a novel, and if you are happy with how your author presented you to readers.

Celeste: I was rather surprised to be in a novel. My life isn’t very interesting other than work, golf, and music LOL. But it was kind of the author to give me my own story.

4.  If your author were to create another novel with you in mind, give us a quick blurb of what it would be about.  And be sure to give the title.

Celeste: I think the novel came to a great conclusion, so I don’t think another book is necessary.

5.  Which character in the novel do you like the most, and why?

Celeste: Reed, afterward.

6.  Which character in the novel do you dislike the most, and why?

Celeste: Reed. Can anyone get more in your face? Okay, you’ll have to read why I start out not liking him at all.

7.  Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Celeste: Thank you for having me. I wish I could have been more detailed in my answers, but the job calls. I’m already due at my news desk.

Two sexy work rivals each want the prestigious promotion, but neither expects to want each other.

Driven and determined, Celeste Fisher won’t let anything stop her from anchoring the nightly news. She’s sacrificed a personal life, a love life, and left her Ojibway community to make it in the city. And if that means stomping all over her too handsome and too competitive rival to nail the position, so be it.

Casual dating and one-night stands are all Reed Dumont can spare while building what he covets most—his career. He’s not about to lose out to Celeste, no matter if he can’t keep his eyes off her sexy legs and admiring her just as sexy brain, because sitting in the broadcasting chair is another step up the ladder to thumb his nose at his poor Métis upbringing.

A crisis in a First Nations community sends the adversaries out on the road to cover the story. Snowed in at the hotel, rivals become humans, unable to deny their true private desires. But upon returning to the city, the new lovers face the biggest hurdle that could cost them their budding relationship when one gets the promotion and the other is left holding… frustration. Now they must decide what is worth fighting for: love or career.
