The month of August at my blog is all about where writers write. During these next thirty-one days, I’ll be featuring those wonderful places where your favourite authors create their works of fiction (besides the usual blog posts). Today, I have Lyncee Shillard in the interview chair. We’re discussing her special writing spot.
****
1. Why did you choose this particular writing spot to draft your novel?
Lyncee: Where better to plot murder, mayhem, and steamy sex especially when it involves a serial killer merman than the beach? The beach is free of distractions. I love writing all my stories there even those that don’t have anything to do with mermaids.
2. Share a story (funny or serious) that occurred at your favourite writing spot.
Lyncee: I was with my now 9-year-old and I was burying him in the sand (at his request). Someone walked by and made a comment that I was doing an excellent job burying him. He replied, “She kills people all the time.”
3. Can you only write at this certain spot? Or is there another place that you like to write?
Lyncee: I wish I could write there all the time but I do live in Michigan so the weather isn’t in my corner. But I do make a thermos of coffee and pack up my bag and sit at the beach (in my car) during the winter.
4. How about the atmosphere. Do you need certain lighting, perhaps music, or silence? Do you lock the door to keep out the kids? Share what goes on while you’re writing.
Lyncee: There are no doors 🙂 But I do listen to music. I make a play list for all my books.

When a wish turns deadly…
Blurb: Aislynn is a mermaid who has watched humans from afar for thousands of years. A negotiator for Neptune, she wonders, what it would be like to feel anything but especially passion the way humans do when they have sex. The truth is mermaids can’t feel emotions of any kind and hot sex is one of those experiences she wishes for. When the opportunity to become a human – temporarily – presents itself, she takes it.
Finley McCormock is a hard-core, tough as nails divorce attorney who represents rich women leaving their husbands. He has no time to do pro-bono environmental work like his colleagues or to fall in love himself. Why bother? He knows how marriages end. But, his new housekeeper, as odd as she is, gives him a hard on he has to take care of. The good news is Aislynn seems more than happy to oblige. She is his sexual fantasy come true, from the mid-day office visit that includes a spanking session to the trip to Trinker’s Sex Toys. Aislynn is willing to try anything.
But, when Aislynn’s past catches up with her, Finley will have to decide if his attraction for Aislynn goes further than the surface of the water. Does he really want to get in deep with his mermaid?

She reached for the hem of her dress.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Do we not need to be nude for harassment?”
He reached out and stopped her.
“This is without a doubt the most bizarre thing I’ve ever encountered. So why should I react rationally?” He muttered as his face dropped closer to hers. She felt his fingers weaving through her hair, holding her in place.
His lips lightly touched hers, briefly brushing against them before he drew her bottom lip between his teeth. Aislynn’s entire body tingled as his lips covered hers. His tongue darted into her mouth. She copied his motions with her own. The pressure of his lips increased as he shifted against her. She needed to remove her clothes because suddenly her body felt as if it was on fire.
Slowly, he withdrew his tongue and then broke off the kiss. His fingers massaged the back of her head. Standing on her toes, she tried to follow to his mouth. She could not let this end.
“I need to adjust my opinion of your kissing skills.” Aislynn kissed along his jaw unable to reach his mouth. “I think you could make me moan.”

I live in Northern Michigan (where it is cold ALL the time) with my hubby of many years. Some of my favorite past times when I’m not writing include reading (any genre), taking pictures (that I use on Facebook, my blog, Instagram, twitter and the journals I make), crocheting blankets for the Linus Project. I’m addicted to M&M’s, planners, tarot cards, and lattes.
