The month of August at my blog is all about where writers write.  During these next thirty-one days, I’ll be featuring those wonderful places where your favourite authors create their works of fiction (besides the usual blog posts). Today, I have Augustina in the interview chair.  We’re discussing her special writing spot.

****

1. Why did you choose this particular writing spot to draft your novel?

Augustina: Everything I need is within arms reach.

2. Share a story (funny or serious) that occurred at your favourite writing spot.

Augustina: One of my cats demands my attention and will sit on the keyboard so I can’t type or sit on the desk in front of me and head butt me until he gets the scratches he’s entitled to.

3. Can you only write at this certain spot? Or is there another place that you like to write?

Augustina: I can write anywhere. I enjoy going to other places once a month for a different vibe. I write at coffee shops, restaurants, at the lake or in the park.

4. How about the atmosphere. Do you need certain lighting, perhaps music, or silence? Do you lock the door to keep out the kids? Share what goes on while you’re writing.

Augustina: I have a specific playlist I use when I write. It helps get the words flowing. My children are grown but my cats visit my office throughout the day to help me write and beg for attention. I outline my books before I start writing. I review the outline each day before I begin. I use Dragon Speak to dictate my books.

Have you ever wondered why all cultures on earth have the same myths and legends? It’s because these creatures are real.

Blurb:  They’ll risk everything for each other…

Lily Montgomery is finding refuge from her vicious divorce and constant self-loathing by writing about the monsters who inhabit her dreams. But then, when she’s rescued by a vampire, she discovers that her monsters are real. Not only that, she’s being pursued by shapeshifters who fear she’ll reveal their secret to humans. Her rescuer is the only constant in her now chaotic world. And, to Lily’s surprise, she fears more for her heart than she does for her life when she’s around him.

Valerian DuCharme is an unusual vampire. Although he’s an enforcer for one of the houses of The Hidden, he’s welcomed by the principled everywhere for his charisma, his caring, and his powers. Valerian lost his true love when he was turned, and his heart has been encased in ice for hundreds of years. Until he meets Lily. And he warms to her charms. But his job is to keep Lily safe. Can he do that and love her, as well?

Valerian’s hand fell to his side and the phone dropped to the ground.

She saw three sets of eyes in the bushes reflecting the glint of the moonlight.

In a breath, Valerian stood between her and the eyes. He took a half step forward with his left foot and waited.

The first wolf sprang, and Lily screamed.

Valerian pivoted on his left foot and turned his back to the wolf, glancing over his shoulder as he kicked to the rear, catching the wolf in the chest with his boot. A cracking sound and the beast dropped to the ground.

Valerian returned to his original position.

The other two jumped out in unison. Valerian stepped to his right and swung his arms in an arch. He struck one wolf in the head, throwing it into the other one. The two wolves tumbled together. One remained on the ground, its front leg lying at an unnatural angle. The other wolf growled and inched its way in a wide circle toward Lily, causing Valerian to turn and face her.

Lily’s head spun. The ground wobbled under her feet.

It wasn’t the fierce look on his handsome face that caused her to clutch her stomach and gasp for air. Not even the fiery gleam in his eyes. No, it was the white glint of his fangs shining in the moonlight.
