Lexi accompanies her sister-in-law to see her brother at a hospital in Germany where he lays after being injured in battle.  A widow who lost her husband while he was serving his country, Lexi doesn’t expect to meet Noah, a burn victim, who is in the bed beside her brother.

Noah is fighting for his life.  Alone after his fiancée dumped him, he has no one to give him the strength to recover, until Lexi takes a big interest in him.

The opening is a great step-up for a touching and heartfelt story of love as a healing power.

The hero and heroine are a duo one can easily root for.  Both are good people battling oppositions from outside forces.  Lexi is still recovering from the loss of her husband while he was in service, and Noah is attempting to regain his life after almost losing it.

The two complemented one another.  I liked how this was a slow-burn romance built on friendship that began to unravel into romantic feelings between the two.  Fireworks weren’t going off between them.  They built what they had on trust and care.  Both had great character arcs that took them from the bottom to the top.  The change in them was wonderfully written.  I especially liked how their goals connected them even further as a couple.

The cast of characters wasn’t overwhelming but added to Lexi and Noah’s story.

This book is a wonderful look into the aftermath of combat and the fight to survive.  The descriptions were vividly painted without becoming too heavy.  The dialogue and conversations between the duo were very realistic.

The author did a great job bringing to life Noah and Lexi’s story.

I did do a “hmm” at Noah’s choice of fiancée and why he became engaged, and also his lack of grieving for the loss of her.  I did feel this was skimmed over, because this would have built mistrust in him, especially after how much he’d already suffered.

Still, this is an enjoyable read and a book I’d easily recommend.  I wish I would have had time to review the whole series for the blog tour.  Do yourself a favour and purchase yourself a copy of Saving Noah.
