Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

June is I :::Heart::: Erotic Romance month at my blog.  During these next thirty days, I’ll be featuring authors who write erotic romance, besides the usual blog posts.  Today, I have Kelley Heckart in the interview chair.  We’re discussing her erotic romance White Rose of Avalon.  Be sure to check out the excerpt.

****

1. What drew you to writing erotic romance?

Kelley:  I write erotic romance because I like showing passion between people in love.

2. What do you like most about writing erotic romance?

Kelley:  For me, writing erotic romances is more than just showing sex scenes. I like to bring out the emotions in my characters.

3. What do you like least about writing erotic romance?

Kelley:  The hardest part about writing erotic romance is making the sex scenes come alive for readers. It can be challenge at times to keep these scenes from being too redundant. I focus on each character and consider personality traits when creating a sex scene.

4. Why did you write this book you are featuring?

Kelley:  White Rose of Avalon is a sensual retelling of King Arthur and Avalon. I’ve read so many books on King Arthur, but none of them really focused on the romances involved. I wanted to focus on the love triangle between Gwenhwyfar, Arthur, and Lancelot. I also added another element to the mix–love between Lancelot and Morgaine. Then I decided I wanted to spice up the romance.

5. Why do you think readers should invest their time in reading erotic romance?

Kelley:  I think erotic romance is the perfect escape from our troubled world. My stories also offer plots with twists and turns, suspense, and thrills.

Destiny cannot be altered.

Blurb:  A new twist on a timeless tale. Do you like captivating, passionate historical fantasy featuring King Arthur, Gwenhwyfar, Merlin, Nimue, Morgaine, and Lancelot?

Inspired by The Mists of Avalon, this sensual retelling of the Arthurian romances brings these legendary characters to life.

Destiny cannot be altered.

With Britannia falling to the Saxon hordes, Morgaine, Queen of the Faeries, has no choice but to make a pact with the Christian monks. She promises to give them a High King who will unite the Britons against the Saxons if he takes a queen from the faery realm. Morgaine hopes this will restore the Goddess faith and return Avalon to its rightful place. She sends Lancelot to guard the future High King, but when a love potion falls into the wrong hands, all seems lost.

Gwenhwyfar is the only hope for the future, but betrayal, revenge, and forbidden love surround her, all of which could send both Britannia and Avalon into ruins.

He lifted her and, with gentle yet strong hands, positioned her onto his pulsating cock. She unfurled and used her wings for balance as she rode him, squeezing him inside her tight, wet sheath. Having him inside of her made her feel whole, and she realized with an ache in her chest how much she loved him.

Lancelot leaned against an oak tree, thrusting deeper inside of her while suckling her nipples. His tongue encircled her areolas, and his gentle nibbles sent shivers throughout her body. Both fire and ice engulfed her in overwhelming passion.

“Lancelot.” She whispered his name as if he were a sacred god.

Desperate for release, his thrusts grew faster. He pushed deep to her core and he came, his hot seed burning her like a welcome fire on a bitter, cold night. Her pelvis pulsed with pleasure as wave after wave tore through her entire body, sending a warm flush up to her face.

He held her tight, burying his head in her dark, lustrous hair. “I have missed you so much.”

“And I you.” She ran her fingers through his sweat-dampened locks.

He relaxed his hold on her and glanced over her shoulder toward the altar. “Working magic, my love?”

She tilted her head upward. “You know I cannot talk about what I do, even to you, Lancelot.”

He met her gaze with unwavering eyes. “I know you sent me to Arthur.”

“True, I did, but if I reveal too much, it could alter events.” Cold air prickled her skin. “Come home with me and spend the night.”

He nodded, and they quickly dressed and gathered their belongings.

She carefully carried the goblet, hiding it within the folds of her cloak. It pained her to keep so much from Lancelot, but the workings of her magic had to remain secret from men who were not druids. Even from a son of her faery kin. Too much was at stake to take any unnecessary risks.

They walked the short distance to her roundhouse, the warmth of the hearth fire a welcome greeting.

She set the goblet covered with the green scarf on her table littered with crystals and bowls of herbs.

Lancelot came up behind her and kissed the back of her neck. “Let’s get naked and into your bed.”

Those stirrings of desire rekindled into a towering flame, and she turned to face him. “I like the way you think.”

They stripped off their clothing and climbed into her bed.

After another round of lovemaking, she suppressed a yawn. Working magic earlier began to seep into her bones, and she grew weary. “I must get some sleep now,” she whispered.

He kissed her forehead. “Sleep well, my love. I will be here when you awake.”

A solemn shadow darkened her happy thoughts as she closed her eyes. They couldn’t be apart, but they couldn’t be together either. It was fated.

There was always a price to pay for working magic.
