When I started writing the Philadelphia Bulldogs series, I already had two YA hockey romances under my belt (unpublished). At the time I was looking for more comps and I started reading more steamy adult hockey romances. I wasn’t really into adult romances, mostly because I really don’t like hisrom, and I had some preconceived notions about romance books. I didn’t know that there was a whole subgenre of sports romances!

So I was reading A LOT of Kelly Jamieson, Sarina Bowen, and Elle Kennedy. Then one night, I was watching the Flyers game and watched one of the young rookies do an in-game interview and went, “Hmm, he’s kinda cute.” And then I got the idea for the first book.

It nagged me until I would write it. But unlike my YA books, I just kinda went for it, because I honestly NEVER thought I was gonna publish it. I wrote it for NANOWRIMO and thought I would put it aside. I thought it was just gonna be something I wrote for fun and nobody ever read. Joke’s on me because Fiona and Riley, the couple from Score Her Heart, decided to show up married in Take The Shot. And then DEMAND I write their story too.

Somehow I ended up with four WIPs in this series that I never wanted to publish, so I decided maybe I should give it a shot! And that’s how the Philadelphia Bulldogs Series was born.

If it wasn’t for Fiona and Riley, I don’t think I ever would have had the courage to publish the first book. So bringing their story to everyone now fills me with a lot of emotions. I have a lot of love for these two, and without them I never would have started my author journey.
