Interview

1. Hi, F.R. First off, readers have an idea of the writer you, but what about the everyday you? Can you share about your personal life?

F.R.: Hi, I start my day with letting the dogs out we have five here, four boxers and a mongrel. I am an animal person through and through. I am single and plan to stay that way. I love people but am not a great people person, I do not think anyway. My job is with people though. A bit of a contradictory I think myself.

2. I have been perusing your Goodreads page and see you are drawn to paranormal romance. Why this genre?

F.R.: Because I am a psychic medium, I love the world-building I love things there are no rhyme nor reason too we have to believe with the proof shown to us, even though I am a medium I have an analytical brain, I like undeniable proof.

3. Your latest series is The Aztec Alphas. Can you tell me what inspired you to create this series?

F.R.: I was doing my work minding my business, when a guy walked into my mind told me his name and showed me his world. I now know that guy as Azkin.

4. Can you share your writing process through Lost & Found?

F.R.: I wrote Lost & Found pretty much after Twin Souls, it was the continuation of the storyline as this is around a seven-book series, I knew the next stage when needed to be told.

5. How much research goes into your novels?

F.R.: With this series I have to flesh out a lot of the fight scenes, the planes needed, etc so I asked some authors that write these or have a history of the army to help out with planes and Americanisms as I am UK based. Its been a massive learning curve. If I absolutely do not know something I will ask or look it up.

6. Let’s talk about the main characters for Lost & Found. What do you love most about Angel and what makes you want to shake him?

F.R.: Angel is only one of the main characters when you read the series you will see he is extremely complex man. He was born in the human world and is the only man that was in the whole series. He is playful and covers his pain with jokes. His neither here nor there attitude wants me to kick his ass sometimes, his inability to believe in what he sees pisses me off.

7. The same for Brad. What do you love most about him and what makes you want to shake him?

F.R.: Brad is deep he loves Angel and always has, but his whole being is so focused on Angel he does not see his flaws, I think that is why I love him but also need to shake him.

8. Without giving away any spoilers, what was your favourite scene to write for Lost & Found and why?

F.R.: The scene where Azkin is sick and the dream within a dream, was my favorite to write but also my worse scene to edit. It made me cry, for the guys.

9. What makes The Aztek Alphas series different from other m/m paranormal romances?

F.R.: There is a complete belief is the other world and their prophecy, the guys know that they must get it right, they believe in the guardians coming into their world and helping to put things right. They believe wholeheartedly in this even though many have only grown up hearing about the Aztec wolf. They co-exist in a pack system, there is not only one set of alphas, but the hierarchy only our omegas are not the dependant on the alphas to save them, they are a strong being that holds the pack together.

10. If a reader asked you why they should read Lost & Found, what would you tell them?

F.R.: I would say now if they have read the others that the continuation of the story is important to know where the pack is going, and their histories, history is being re-written for the Aztec pack each book that comes out.

11. You can only recommend one of your novels to a reader, which would you choose from the books you have written so far, and why?

F.R.: I would have to go with book two of the Aztecs, book 1 was my first ever story book, so I know I struggled to get it right, even with the world building, I am getting so used to this pack now I have lived and breathed with them for three years. Azkin and Zain as a strong unit, they know when they are wrong.

12. Which novel was your personal favourite to write, and why?

F.R.: I so enjoyed writing Redemption, the archangels were absolutely hilarious to write for, however I ended up with an editing issue again with two of the books, they are being re-worked but it ends up making the book look bad. I am pulling this one and reworking it adding in the second book, to the same.

Completing the story. I have to say as a medium I work with the archangels all the time, so to have them stand next to me for a reading after I wrote them into a BDSM scene was and still is to this day amusing and rather embarrassing.

13. What can we expect from you in the future?

F.R.: I am working on four books at the minute, being autistic my brain works this way, I have found it strange to only work on one book at one time. So, I am writing a series the Aztec Warriors, it takes Jax Reed head of The Alpha protection program and his part in the prophecy many years before Azkin became known as the Aztec wolf.

His book is based on the files he kept on each warrior. Angels book is book two, and Cade Ryan’s book, is book three.

I am also working on a collaboration right now, a book set sixty years from now, a friend to lovers, called After we came home!

14. What do you enjoy most about writing?

F.R.: The peace it brings my brain. I can shut up the characters that beg me for their books.

15. What do you enjoy least about writing?

F.R.: I cannot write long enough, my brain gets tired I try to move around and drink lots of water, but the aspect of always being busy is all in the mind. When I am writing I am busy, when I am working, I am writing up readings and I am busy.

16. I enjoy doing random questions, so humour me:

  • What’s your favourite movie?
    2012
  • What book is currently in your e-reader?
The Avanti chronicles, Corin. By Hannah walker.
  • Who’s your favourite musical group?
UB40 lol I am from Birmingham UK.
  • What song puts a smile on your face?
    My dogs.

17. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

F.R.: I think you have it all I have enjoyed answering these thank you for being interested.

Excerpt

Azkin closed his eyes. He imagined he was looking at the red wolf in shifter form. Calling on all his strength as an Aztec shifter, in his mind’s eye, he projected to Zain so he could also see the very skinny young shifter, around twenty-one years with shocking red hair, very pregnant, and very much alone.

Zain knelt, placed his hand on the wolf’s foreleg, and whispered, “Shift. We know you’re pregnant. We won’t hurt you, but you’re going to harm your cub if you don’t.”

This seemed to kickstart the wolf’s self-preservation, and he shifted. Then, he scurried along on his ass toward the wall, trying to make himself appear small.

“Zain heal him. I’ll hold his arm. Please, before he goes into shock and we lose him.” Zain leaned forward as the smaller, almost feral shifter, growled at him.

“Alpha Zain is going to do a healing on your cub now. And then, we are taking you back to the Aztec pack lands.”

The shifter gasped and settled instantly. Something shifted behind his eyes, and he sighed.

Forcing all the Alpha pheromones, Alpha energy, and calming pheromones Zain could to the smaller shifter, Zain started the healing. From the color of the healing, they knew he was a feral omega from a lab. They needed this young one alive. Even just to birth his cub.

Feral wolves were wolves that had been in shift more than three months. This young one had been in shifter form a lot longer than that.

As Zain started to heal him, he could see his cub, hanging on to a need to survive, a tiny white wolf.

Tears prickled on Zain’s face. Healing with cubs involved brought this reaction from Zain, and each time Azkin witnessed empathy in his mate, it brought him joy.

About-the-Author

12I live in Northern Ireland. Mom to two kids, totally crazy goings on in our house so it’s not surprising I write gay romance, paranormal shifters. Archangels and angels.

I love to channel the characters who waltz into my mind, they refuse to leave until I write their story.

The magic of the spirit/other world is in the books I write. I am a Spiritual and Psychic medium, and we all need a little magic in our lives. I am a spiritual teacher I walk many roads.

I am often found with my head a book, or earphones on as I listen to a book, or I am writing.

The biggest challenge so far has been the dyslexia. I have a set routine, and many people do not run on the same timeline as me, it’s been frustrating. Though lots of coffee seems to help, the animals in my life ground me.

My passion lies with the paranormal of our world, as well as a love of Sci-fi.

I have a rescued cat Theodore, the rescue advertised looking for homes for black cats no one wanted them. I also am mom to three Boxers, Dante, Khaleesi, and Sorcha. And nanny to my daughters two dogs, boxer Aria litter sister to Khaleesi, and brother Dante. Also a little mongrel Riley.

I love showing dogs this takes me out of my head and away from the computer, it brings out the competitive in me. It also helps me hone the vision of boxers for the future helping to promote the breed.

This gives me something to do outside of sitting in front of the PC, Training the dogs in protection as well as the showring. I am looking forward to 2020 in the showring, and 2020 for personal writing goals.
