Title: Between Today and Someday
Series: The Wonders of Wildflowers, book two
Author: Ann M. Trader
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 213 pages
Release Date: April 21, 2025
Blurb: Prim Vreeland is an emergency department nurse, and after a string of disappointing relationships, her own heart needs life support. On a leap of faith, she moves home and is surprised when her brother’s best friend—and her secret childhood crush—has the same idea. As attraction sparks, she finds her usual steady footsteps treading on quicksand.
Sportfishing media influencer Chase Bova realizes it’s time to swap life on the road for hometown roots. When he crosses paths with Prim, she tangles his line, tying it in knots. Her charm reminds him why he’d steered clear of her years ago…and should probably do the same now.
As their irresistible connection turns into romance, questions of honesty and commitment linger. Will Prim and Chase dig deep for the courage to face their past and together, discover what really lies between today and someday?

Prim
Chase turned his hand over on my knee, and within seconds, I felt his gaze on me. Fizzy excitement bubbled through my veins. Was he always like this, touching and turning toward the woman he was with…?
I looked at his gentle expectant expression and felt instantly calmed, wanted. I took his hand, rubbing and studying every crease and callous, knowing it was capable of tackling the worst kitchen catastrophe…and experienced in traversing the curves of a woman’s body. Many women’s bodies.
I took a steadying breath. Maybe even my body.
“Hey,” Chase said, his voice a deep whisper.
“Hey.” I held his gaze for several spectacular seconds. It’d be so like me to retreat now, refuse to acknowledge the attraction thrumming between us. Because I didn’t like being vulnerable…didn’t want to be let down again.
His mouth twitched, softness playing around the edges of his smile. “I like your hands, too.”
“You do?”
“Yeah.” He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed my knuckles. Then he wove our fingers together, placing our joined hands on my thigh. “I like all of you.”
My stomach flipped.
Was I crazy to open my heart to this man? Yep. Could I stop this even if I wanted to? Not a chance.
Chase Bova had me. And I wanted to live in that feeling, at least for tonight.

This is the second book in the Wonder of Wildflower series. It can be read as a standalone.
Prim has had some terrible luck when it comes to relationships. She ended her last one after catching her boyfriend with another woman. Imagine her surprise when her childhood crush returns to the small town he abandoned to become a sports social media influencer—her brother’s best friend, Chase.
Chase has put away his womanizing ways and is ready to settle into an easier life, which is why he’s moved back home after gallivanting about, building his business in sports fishing. Prim has always intrigued him, so imagine his surprise when he finds her still single.
Sparks fly when the two reconnect at a wedding, but both have hang-ups they need to address. Chase harbours a deep resentment for his father, and Prim wonders if she can trust another guy after what her ex-boyfriend put her through.
The conflict centers around abandonment issues from an absent parent and dealing with unfaithfulness. The core of the story is Chase and Prim reconnecting and building a slow and steady relationship. Because of his upbringing, Chase also has “children” issues, and Prim wants children.
All in all, it’s a nice easy read with heartfelt conversations and lots of emotion. The writing is top-notch. The characters are likeable. The same for the secondary characters. It has the usual small-town touches of advice from friends or siblings, nosey but well-meaning people, and a look at the town where everyone knows your name.
If you enjoy slow burn, small-town romances with minimal conflict, do yourself a favour and get a copy. It’s perfect for a rainy weekend.
