Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

For this edition of First Kiss Friday, I am sharing the first kiss between Bebe Boshey and Alden Campbell from Dressed for Success, an interracial, May/December, contemporary romance.

Two wounded-in-love go-getters must decide if they’ll break their personal rule that cost them so much in the past by mixing business with pleasure.

Divorcée Bebe Boshey flees her Ojibway community for the city of Thunder Bay to begin anew, landing a great job that affords her an independent lifestyle she covets and a great condo. Best of all, her silver fox boss thinks the world of her. She can’t help her attraction to him, but office dating is a huge no-no.

Divorcé Alden Campbell is tired of spending his nights alone. And he’s also quite uncomfortable about his feelings for his ace real estate agent, Bebe. Even though they are strictly professional in their daily dealings, the sizzling chemistry ready to boil over between them is enough to shake him with fear, because he’s been there and done that.

While they’re on a business trip together, a crafty playboy pushes Alden into making a big decision that might cost him dearly—pursue Bebe and break his rule of business-only, or let Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome work his charm on the one woman Alden wants to call his own.

Bebe rested her delicious butt against the table in front of the window. “How long?”

“How long what?” Her question confused Alden.

“How long have you been thinking about me? About us?”

“Ever since you walked into my real estate office…”

Fear invaded Bebe’s gaze. “That isn’t why you hired—”

“Never.” Alden shook his head. “I told you, I’ve been thinking about you, but wanting not to think about you. I understand our situation. I’m aware I’m your boss and I also own the business.”

“And if my answer is no?”

His heart crinkled a smidgen. “You’re aware I’d never hold anything against you.”

She nodded. “Alden…”

“You don’t think I’ve stayed awake, wondering about this?” He rubbed his face.

“Awake?”

“Not just here. Back home.” He swallowed. “I…” He smoothed his tie.

“Alden?”

“Yes?”

“If you keep talking, you’ll lose your erection.” She pointed at his pants where his hard-on was fading. “And my panties will dry up.”

“So they are wet then? I guess it’d be a shame to waste an erection and a more than wet pussy.” He couldn’t believe the words flowing from his mouth tonight, but she’d done this to him, turned him into a desperate man—desperate for her. “But I can’t make the offer, Bebe. A gentleman always lets the lady decide…” His heart seemed to hold its breath. He held up his hand, indicating for her to give him the dreaded no, or the please, please, please say yes.

Her gaze bounced around the room. When she set her purse on the table, his breathing briefly stopped. She lifted her finger, wiggling it at him.

Her response melted away the anxiety coursing through Alden’s blood. It took only three steps to close the distance. Her fragrance grew heavier, a sensual aroma meant to seduce, and she’d done more than seduce him.

His fingers shook, but he drew them through her hair as he’d always wanted to. Soft were the silky waves she’d curled. Satin to the touch. The air he expelled from his lungs came fast. Her dark eyes stared at him, her lips parted. He melted his mouth on hers.

She was sweet to taste, and her flesh as silken as the waves of hair he continued to caress. Each suckle from her lips and delicious pucker of her mouth heated his blood. She’d trapped him in a moment he’d dreamed about. He deepened their kiss, feasting harder on her hot mouth that eagerly returned his nibbles and pecks.
