1. What inspired you to write this book?
Shiela: Having lived in a haunted house in my youth, Secrets of the Dead is loosely based on that.
2. Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?
Shiela: I do. The hero in my book, Awaken the Demon, Draco, has his story told of how he was sent from hell to gather souls and why he decided to stop working for his grandfather, Satan, and start a new life. I’ve never published it but might put it on my blog as a free read.
3. Can you tell us a little about the characters in SECRETS OF THE DEAD?
Shiela: C.J. Dowling can see and speak to the dead. His mission is to find out what is keeping them from crossing over to the other side and helping them get there. He’s a very head strong man, with soft inner shell.
Jessica Coultrain is a diehard skeptic and is eager to dispel the myth that ghosts are real in any way she can.
4. Who designed your book covers?
Shiela: The publisher usually picks the artists, but I have created some of my own covers as is the case with my Darkness series.
5. How did you come up with the name of the book?
Shiela: It didn’t take much. I knew the dead had to be part of it and since there is a deep dark secret is the story I pieced them together and came up with Secrets of the Dead, with a tagline, “nothing stays buried.”
6. What is your favourite part of this book and why?
Shiela: I love the banter between the two main characters and loosely base it on mine and my husband’s sense of humor.
7. Are your characters based on real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
Shiela: Complete imagination.
8. What did you edit “out” of the book?
Shiela: Unfortunately, a lot of the humor was edited out mainly because the word count was too high.
