Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

As promised for my June 19th post, today I’m reviewing The Hubble, book three in the Tennent Surf series, a contemporary romance by award-winning author Cindy Kehagiaras.

Title: The Hubble
Series: Tennent Surf, book #3
Author: Cindy Kehagiaras
Genres: Adult, Contemporary Romance
Length: 150 pages
Publication Date: June 26, 2024

Blurb: Kelly, aka Katia, and more alias’ is ready to leave her job as the cyber specialist for an international clandestine group of “fixers” and return to her hometown in Orange County, California, and her first love, Brad Tennent. She’d only met him once eight years ago; her hacking experience allowed her to follow Brad over the years and learn exactly what kind of girls he liked. Blonde, flirty and ditzy. And that’s exactly who she will become. She needn’t have bothered with the dye job, spray tan, and dumb act. He was smitten at their first meeting with the weird goth girl, her bossy opinions, and her stunning lips and cheekbones. He’d compared every woman to her for eight years. Brad, known as the pretty boy heir to The Tennent Surf Company, lets everyone in his life make decisions for him. He spent his days surfing, dating many women, and partying. But meeting the strange, judgmental girl years before and her insistence that he could do anything he put his mind to made him question his entire life.

“The Hubble” is the third book in The “Tennent Surf” series, PREQUEL to “The Perpetual” and “The Dasher”.

This is a prequel, and since I really enjoyed it, I wonder what the full series is like.  Kelly of the many aliases met and fell hard for the surfer guy Brad at fifteen.  When she finally met her when she was older, the world her parents introduced her to sucked her far away from California and far away from Brad, but she kept an eye on him since she’s an experienced hacker.

Brad was intrigued by Kelly’s brazenness, so imagine his disappointment when she disappeared across the pond to visit a “grandma” and never returned.  So he went about his business of being the free-wheeling surfer dude that he is, dating many women since his parents’ marriage soured him on relationships.

But Kelly is back…  I must say, I LOVED Kelly’s world and the characters that went with it.  Much mystery and suspense was going on.  The Face—Kelly’s ex—also captured my attention big time, and I wonder if he has his own novel.

Anyhoo, back to Brad and Kelly.  When they came together it was instant chemistry for these two.  They are complete opposites, and you know how they say opposites attract.  Kelly does worry about her “secret” life, though, and how she’ll explain it to Brad.  Even worse, her “secret” life isn’t over yet, because she’s needed for one more job.

I enjoyed the parents, who are also opposites.  Kelly’s are former spies, and Brad’s dad is as free-spirited as him, but his mother is the exact opposite.  The cast of characters doesn’t impede on the romance, and neither does the subplot that is full of suspense.  If anything, it adds a great layer to their budding relationship.

The two are great characters.  Kelly is willful and madly in love with Brad.  Brad is a bit leery since he knows she’s keeping secrets, and he’s wondering if she will fit into his life since he’s contemplating something he’s never contemplated before.

This is a wonderful novel full of romance and suspense the author managed to cram into 150 pages, and she did it well.  I felt as if I had a full read of Kelly and Brad’s story.  Do yourself a favour and get a copy.
