Romancing Canada's Indigenous People

As promised for my April 4th post, today I am reviewing USA Today bestselling author Sophie Ash’s latest release Cursed Wolf, book three in the Howling Death MC series, a paranormal romance.

Title: Cursed Wolf
Series: Howling Death MC, book three
Author: Sophie Ash
Genres: Adult, Paranormal Romance
Publication Date: March 29, 2024

If the sweet veterinarian finds out I’m a werewolf, she’ll bolt.
But she’s my fated mate, and the beast in me is howling for a taste.

I’m the wolf she hit with her car and nursed back to health. I’m also the gruff biker who saved her from her creepy boss.

She has no idea man and beast are one and the same.

We’re from different worlds, but fate’s thread ties us together. She thinks we’re just dating, but she’s meant for me. And as I get to know her, I can’t get enough.

The more time we spend together, the more my wolf howls to claim her. Soon, I won’t be able to hold back the animal within me.

Fate has cursed me with an impossible choice. Reveal my wolf to a human and risk the safety of my pack.

Or force her into my world with a mating bite, and bind our fates forever.

Whether she likes it or not.

This book features fated mates between a human woman and a protective wolf shifter hiding a big secret. Each book in Howling Death MC is a standalone with a guaranteed HEA!

****

Even though this is the third book in the Howling Death MC series, it can be read as a standalone.  As stated in the blurb, Emmaline is a vet who hits Tryn with her car.  She’s a kind and caring vet with controlling parents who belittle the lifepath she chooses, but she’s determined to prove herself because caring for animals is what she desires to do for the rest of her life.

As for Tryn, he’s found his fated mate, and he knows it’s Emmaline, a human.  Or is she human?  You’ll have to read to find out.

First, the chemistry between the two main characters.  It’s there from the get-go.  She is drawn to Tryn’s wolf in a motherly way, connecting with it and also concerned.  Tryn feels the connection, too, and he wants to know Emmaline, but he’s fearful of how she’ll react to the truth.

The world-building is wonderful.  There is a place called Vargmore that the author gives details about.  There are also a host of other paranormal creatures in the book:  angels, vampires, witches, etc.  Vargmore isn’t of our realm but another.  To reach it, one has to go down a road in the human world that only Tryn knows about.

I enjoyed Tryn and Emmaline’s first meeting at the bar.  The author did a great job setting up the pairing and the chemistry is present.  The longer they are together, the more they are drawn to each other, especially Tryn.  Emmaline also experiences what she thinks is “strange” and “weird” regarding her feelings for Tryn, but it’s something she won’t get answers to until much later.

There are other characters introduced, too, who I’m assuming were in the first two novels.  I liked how they didn’t overshadow the main pairing but were there to guide and assist.  Great job, author.  I loathe when authors spend too much time on previous leads, and she did not disappoint me.

The writing is excellent.  The dialogue is solid.  The world-building is awesome.

It’s a great read and ends with a romance HEA.  But as for the series plot, that will continue since there is a big hint of something more to come at the end of the novel:  one being a new romance pairing, and two, what will happen with the vampires.

It’s a great way to read away the weekend.  Do yourself a favour and get a copy.
