Her biggest dream’s offered on a platter, but the clincher is, she has to marry a perfect stranger.

Blurb:  When her employer offers the no-nonsense Shannon Nadjiwon the position of chauffeuring Séamus Daugherty, she jumps at the chance. To work for one of Toronto’s most powerful families means she can make her biggest dream of owning a fleet of limos come true, something her female relations tooling away at her Ojibway community want badly for her, and she won’t let them down.

His reckless need for speed cost Séamus Daugherty his license. If he doesn’t marry, as demanded by his overbearing father, he will lose not only his lucrative job with the family business —the only positive aspect in Séamus’ gilded cage life—but everything Daugherty.

The unpretentious and gorgeous Shannon will make the perfect bride, and Séamus is ready to strike a deal with her. One that will ensure he keeps everything he holds dear if she puts a wedding ring on her finger. However, they face three big obstacles: His family, her family, and a marriage neither truly wants, leaving both wondering if the sizzling sexual chemistry and cozy rapport they share is enough to create a happily ever after.

Oh, Father, you’ll never know what you brought upon yourself. He almost laughed but did his best to keep a straight face. And he’d better get down to business by initiating phase one. “Have you ever thought of marrying?”

His question must’ve shocked Shannon. She spit out the drink in a very unladylike manner.

Tonya raced over, napkin on hand.

Shannon waved the attendant away, using her finger to motion at the drink while shaking her head back and forth. Her mouth was clamped shut, but remnants of the drink dribbled down the front of her driver’s uniform. “I’m fine,” she sputtered.

Tonya glanced to Séamus. He used his eyes to motion to the back. She turned on her heel and left.

“Everything okay?”

“Oh, uh, yes.” Shannon set the drink on the table beside her. “Uh, well, your question took me off guard.”

“It did? Why?” There was something rather amusing about peeling away the layers of professionalism wrapped tight around Shannon’s lovely lithe body.

“I never had anyone ask me such a personal question before.” A hint of red colored her strong cheekbones. Cheekbones reflecting her heritage. Truly, she was a beauty.

Of course, he must inquire about her personal side to unearth her Achilles heel, because that would clinch marriage for him. Women of this era didn’t need to wed like Mom had. They only committed if they desired to claim a life partner for themselves, whether it be for love, sex, or money. For Shannon, being so devoted to her career, he had to dig deep for her true goals.

“It was a simple question. Nothing more.”

“And you? Do you wish to marry?” Her head was tilted, which meant she wasn’t being coy by answering a question with a question. No doubt she found the topic baffling.

He flicked a piece of lint from his trousers. I have no choice now unless I wish to become blackballed and lose my inheritance. “It’s expected of me.”

She squinted. He’d witnessed her giving him the something’s up look a couple of times. Maybe she was catching on to the dislike he held for Father, and the predicament he found himself in now.

As a driver, she was most likely perceptive if she had to anticipate her clients’ needs to succeed in her career. And she was successful if her boss had chosen Shannon to drive for Father, which was why she’d refused to let down her guard no matter how much cajoling he’d used.

They’d be in Banff soon, the perfect place to isolate himself from stress whenever he needed to get Father off his back. How predictable she’d never asked or hinted at finding out where they were going.

“Marriage, then? In the cards?” He set aside his glass so Tonya could retrieve it for safety purposes.

“Honestly, I’ve never thought about marriage.” Shannon crossed and uncrossed her legs. Her lovely earlobes were growing a tad red, visible because her hair remained braided.

“Too intent on your career?” Yes, this independent lady was up to something big for herself. And why not? Ambition was a good trait to possess.

She nodded.

I’m going to get you to unseal your lips, sooner than later. Over dinner tonight, I am sure you will divulge what I’m seeking. That was a promise.

Seems like an intriguing premise. She has no idea what she’s getting into, with the politics of a rich family. And he might discover he’s a real person!
